Is there any good way to try to clean the headliner?  Mine appears to have cigarette smoke damage from someone back in the day, and water damage from bad door seals.

Hi Ron,

I had Napa mix up some paint for Dying my seats & I removed them from the car & spray dyed them with a low pressure gun & they came out great & that was a few years ago & they are still fine, but as far as the headliner goes it seems to me there would be just as much work involved in trying that, as it would replacing the headliner.  I replaced mine and it really isn't that hard to do.  There are "hook catches"  in the back & by the pillars.  I started from front to back.

Also you can take care of any surface rust on the bows, under the roof etc.  I believe there is a site on the net that shows how to do it. It just takes a little patience.   Good luck on whichever you decide.       Mike

You might as well try the dying or the other stuff - if it doesn't work out you will be in the same situation you are in now.

As far as this forum going out - see the thread in this section - there is just a server change.

I regularly visit the 54 Ford site - what they need is somebody to oversee the site and fix it up. With a one year subject, you naturally don't get the questions that you get on this site.

I was about to tear out my headliner and make a new one when a friend said don't do that, dye it. The thing is fine except faded and stained and he said I could have auto paint store mix up a some stuff for me to spray and do my carpet at the same time. Remember reading where someone said go to fabric store and buy package of dye, mix it with warm water and brush it on. Does anyone have any ideas on this subject?

That is really bad new I just heard that Forum may close down. Maybe someone in charge could look into joining up with "1954 Ford Club"...think they could use some fresh blood and it could be a pretty good site with a little help.....not a lot of activity right now and think they may be wise to allow in more years. Hey, not too many of us around with '54's.
