I forgot to mention, I dont think there is a problem installing the fan on the pump, just do away with the upper pulley and mount.

I don't beleive a later car style damper will fit on with some of the truck front mounts, I just went through this and ended up changing timing cover, water pump and damper to fit an engine in a woods buggy that had a 55 or earlier truck frame. The damper hits the mount before being seated. The earlier trucks had a single bolt front mount, the later the double bolt style. not sure of the date of the change but I have 55's around and 57's and they are completely different, so it was between there sometime.

John Mummert (6/14/2011) 54 and 55 F-100's and F-250's both used high mount fans. As you stated, 54 had small impellor pump and 55 had larger impellor.
54 truck pumps are 1 year only. That would be 54 & "1/2"... maybe, when they went to the 239-Y? I did not think any F-100's got high mount pumps....... (I was somehow under the impression that the P-250s, Courier etc and maybe medium trucks were the only ones that got the high mount pumps)

John Mummert (6/13/2011) Usually 1956 F-100's had the fan mounted on the pump. Sounds like you want the 56 and later truck water pump. You will also need a water pump pulleyand 56 later fan. The56 and latertrucks used the same crankshaft damper as the cars and have provision to mount the additional pulley to drive the P/S pump.
Perhaps the fan mounted on the pump was a mid year change on the 56 trucks or yours has the 55 set-up.I don't think the high mount pump was ever used in the F-100 pickups. There are 2 "high-mount" pumps. One for the 55 239 and one for the 56 272 and later. I had BOTH, and they are not the same nor are they interchangeable. (The "272" model will fit on the 272/292 timing cover but NOT on the 239 timing cover. It's a little bit "bigger") If you could mount your radiator and shroud such that the regular water pump would center on the shroud, you wouldn't need the high-mount pump at all. I can't do it on mine.....The engine sits way too low and the radiator is way too high in the F-600.

como se yama (6/13/2011) thanks do you know the number or type water pump you used?mine is a 272 cid .i think this will solve my p/s steering problem i have all the brackets and pulleys i need thanks again como se yamaHowdy, I have a similar setup but I'm going to make my own fan mount. I did have the pump with the mounting flange for the original fan and bearing mount but I sold it. You can buy that pump (rebuilt) from Rock Auto Kragen, possibly NAPA and possibly others.........but they'll usually want your old pump. They DON'T always stock them because they're so rare (I think I got the last one not needing a "core" from Rock Auto ) This the pump you're looking for (From Rock Auto http://www.rockauto.com/ ) A-1 CARDONE Part # 58233 More Information About this Part Reman. Includes Gasket
with High Mount Fan Bracket Cheers, Rick

I have a 55 f100,which originally had the high mounted fan I replaced the pump with the cast in fan bearing mount with a fan for a 57 f100. The only other consideration was to get a fan shroud that would be centered with the fan. I found one at a swap meet.
