Ted:  Didn't the cars us a 5/8 stub and trucks 3/4?
John.  You’re right on the sizes.  I’ve corrected my numbers in the post above.  Thanks for catching that.

Be aware that there are two basic timing covers in regards to water pumps and fuel pumps.  The earlier covers have a smaller water pump and those pumps are more difficult to find when replacement time comes around.  The smaller water pump timing covers also use a different fuel pump which can be identified by the 5/16 X 18 bolts that hold that particular pump to the cover.  The larger water pump timing covers uses a fuel pump that attaches to the cover with 3/8 X 16 bolts.  Once you've got a handle on the timing cover, then there are two pulley hub stub sizes on the pumps.  The cars used a 5/8" stub while the trucks used a 3/4" stub.  Either of these can be made to work as long as the appropriate water pump pulley is being used.
