I was trying to do a search on the 3 duece setup but coming up blank. I don't find an article on them either. What should I type in on the search bar?

I think with so many people wanting to run them these days for the nostalgia look, it may be good to have an article on setting them up properly.

Try "tri power" on the H.A.M.B. or google. Lot's of good info, not exclusive to Y-Blocks but help full. here's one thread on the H.A.M.B. (Jalopy Journal).

Thanks guy's, did a lot of reading over the weekend and getting mixed results.

Power valve question???? are the ones with the lower tension springs for a lower vacuum reading or are the stiffer ones for the lower vacuum reading?? I have some I cannot read and trying to match up by testing spring tension on a precision scale.

Generally speaking, power valves are manufactured to open at a specific vacuum value (x number inches of Hg).  I have tested them by cobbling together an adaptor to allow me to apply vacuum to the diaphragm with a hand held vac. pump.  This is probably not too accurate but it's close enough for starters.  FWIW, my past experience has been with the "6 venturi" factory FE setups.  Note that they do not use power valves in the end carburetors.  As noted above, I was inundated with advice from the "old pros" of the day with very mixed results- mostly bad.  Finally, an older, wiser Ford line mechanic suggested that I set up the carbs per the factory shop manual.  Shazam!  It made all the difference.  It was fairly simple to tune and adjust after all.  It was and still is a very effective street/strip/cruise package.  The best of all worlds, IMO.
