Sorry for delay in responding, been busy . I use stock dist with petronix parts. Using that for about 5 years . Looking for something else but I have to have knee replacement surgery again and i am going to be laid up for about a year. So, I have the bird for sale. But, being a diehard I am always looking for something new. 55 birdmanSmile

Birdman,

thanks for the photo. Would like to keep my kickdown if possible. Turning that fordo into a lower gear at cruise really gives me some umph!  - loads of torque in this thing. What kind of dizzy are your running?

I have 3x2 model 94s on an edlebrock 553 intake. I hadto get a gas pedal to carb linkage from a 56 bird straightened it out a bit and put more threads on it and it hooked right up. I dont use the kick down linkage.  hope picture works . I used stock bellcrank . it works fine. Cool55birdman

thanks Paul. I believe I might need that 4 barrel firewall pivot that Brodie was talking about too. I do have a rod that will go from the intake bellcrank to the progressive linkage setup.

Man this car is fast! - I laid 40 feet of rubber on an original Fordomatic (in Lo) with good radial tires! Of course, this is a Y block at one of it's finest hours!!!Tongue

Paul,

I have the Offenhauser progressive linkage - check

I have the 56 4 barrel bellcrank - check

I have the throttle shaft extension on the drivers side of each carb - check

My question is whether or not I can use that 56 4 barrel linkage (drivers side hookup) on my 55 Club Sedan (currently a 2 barrel original, linkage rod on passenger side, assembly).

I do have the manifold, carbs, and thelouvered air cleaners...

do you know of any books or websites out thereyou could recommend? and are you running this setup?

thanks, Dan

Daniel - I have a four speed so nothing here will help you. Based on my TBird, all you should need is a rod from the bellcrank to the center carb. The progressive linkage takes care of the other two (as you know).

If you are looking for carb linkage, EELCO has it, also Vintage Speed. Also try Speedway. I am sure there are others. As far as the linkage from gas pedal, is the linkage orginally for a two bbl, with the connection on the right side? With the auto, you will have to get a 4bbl setup because of the auto trans kickdown.

If you haven't done it already, you will probably need the extended throttle shafts for all the carbs to mount the linkage, especially if your going with progressive.

If you have been following my posts lately, my new 292 in the 55 Club really screams - even with an original 2 barrel and Fordomatic. I can burn rubber from a standstill on good RADIALS, dry pavement, starting in Lo or in Dr, and when I shift from Lo to Dr, I get a small bark. The torque is awesome!w00t

I have an Edelbrock 553 I would like to install. Have an extra 56 passenger car bellcrank, an unpopened Offenhauser 3 deuce linkage setup (#6271), and of course my original working linkage that operates my current Fordo and stromberg style 2 barrel. What options do I have here, and how much fabbing up is this going to take? Anyone out there running this combo right now? Maybe you could send me a couple of photos to danaxjessup@yahoo.com ?

You should have seen the look on my Father-in-Law's face when I took him for a ride this afternoon!!!!!Tongue Great stuff! He enjoyed it though - he likes the car alot, and of course, that Y block puts the "thump" in the 55.
