292 and 272 engines are identical except for internal measurements,so yes they will interchange with no modifications needed.

Greetings Y blockers, first time poster and my first y blocks.  I have a 56 F100 272 and a 57 F100 with a 272.  I have a newly rebuilt 292 out of a 63 F250.  My question is will the 292 bolt up to my 56's 3 speed column shift tranny without modification?  What about motor mounts or other surprises ?   Thanks for the help.
