Ugly noise, but I also think it's the flexplate.

It sounded like the damper was put on without a key in the keyway or the flywheel is not bolted up tight to the crank!!



I think he should just pull the pan and LOOK! At this point it not very useful to to use a Youtube video to try and diagnose........



It's not going to sound the same on a computer as it does standing there or using a stethoscope etc......

yeah, just thought i'd try to help this guy out from the HAMB forum, as most here are better versed with the Y's.



apparently, his 57 wagon ran fine when parked for some 6 months. then he started it and he gets an awful rattle coming from inside engine.

like something is swinging around and hitting the oil pan.

Davis: the address doesn't just come up.. & I'm not going to try to transfer it.. Anyway, if you have an auto trans, a rattle can be a failed Flex plate..
