Hi All,

After many years of non use I got the old gal started again sort of. I was really motivated that after sitting for so long she started right up. Car has been parked in my garage since 1993,last year I had the carb 2100 rebuilt, bought a new fuel pump, cleaned the fuel lines and had the gas tank boiled and coated.

So she starts right up, had to prime it a few times to get the gas to flow to the carb. She was purring real nice for a bout five minutes and then she stopped.

I pulled the coil wire and noticed no Spark. So I figure I will start with the ballast resister and while I'm at it go with the petronics pointless syster and flame thrower II coil.

I'm not sure if which ballast resistor I need I see 0.8, 1.6 ohm and input would be appreciated and any other places I shold be trouble shooting as well?

Thanks

Mario

First solve the problem, then think about upgrades. You can run a jumper wire directly to the coil to eliminate electrical issues. Firing it up for a few seconds without the resistor won't hurt anything - and since you're planning to upgrade, it really plain and simply doesn't matter.

When you get around to the Pertronix, if I'm not mistaken, the Flamethrower II coil is for use with an Ignitor II which does not require a ballast resistor, so replacing the resistor at this point will just be wasted time and money.

If you are still using points that is a good place to start.Wouldn't hurt to get a new set with a condensor.
