I need the small diameter retainer for my swap, I can take another toploader retainer I have and have it cut down to 4 11/16, but not sure if anyone around here can get it done sometime this lifetime....Let me know what you have, and how much. By the way, will a `63-64 3.03 bearing retainer interchange with that? I may be able to find one of those, as there are several old F100s around here that may have one...

James I took mine to a local machine shop and had it cut down to the correct size . I can't remember exactly what the size was ,but I know it only cost $10 or $20 . Lon

I finally found a local shop that would do it. Its amazing to me how shops will turn diwn even a small job like this, say they're too busy to mess with it. Should have it done today. Thanks Lon. J

James , It seems that a lot of machine shops these days all want to charge a "minimum charge " for the smallest job ??? All the B/S about office fees, surcharges for this ,surcharges for that ,tax ,invoice charges ,etc, etc, ??? What ever happened to good old fashioned CASH ??

Tell me about it. A lot of shops around here didnt even want to mess with it, apparently not enough money in it. This guy I found is an older guy, been a machinist for a lot of years, he didnt even charge me anything, just did it. He also made me a price on offset grinding and indexing my 312 crank for a 3.64 or 3.61 stroke...said he'd do it for about $150 or so...my kind of pricing. He just did a 312 for a fellow here with a Crown Vic, made a small stroker out of it, nothing big. I need to do some research before I have any of that done though, have to get pistons and rods, block bored, etc. At least I have a good running 292 to bolt in with my 4 speed now while I do this. I was getting tired of having a garage ornament, or junk holder....

The thing I find amazing is these same guys/shops are complaing about the poor economy and how they have to cut back. This is a disease in New England. One would think they would be happy to get a quick little cash job now and then. Chuck
