It's tricky to get the window back in just as its getting it out. Loosen up the chrome window post for some additional room. Put the rear section in first (if I remember correctly) and play with it. They never go in the first try (Unless your lucky) so keep at it.

I am about to put the whole assembly back in. I have the back window run in loose, I have the glass still out and i have the chrome window post out. I cant seem to get the window in with chrome post in.
Does the glass go in after the the chrome post is in?
Thanks

When putting back together, the clips must be inserted back into the rollers. Then put the rollers into the bottom channel. Put the window into the door and then insert the studs on the regulator into the rollers. You have to put pressure on the studs/arms to push them into the rollers so they click in.

Nat Santamaria (9/18/2011) Hello all.
Has anyone had to remove the drivers side glass on a 57 tbird? The glass has come loose in the channel that it sits in sandwiched by the rubber gasket. Does the window regulator have to come out?
Any tips or helpful hints.
ThanksYou have to take off the garnish molding and then the 2 stops at the top of the door. The window is held to the regulator by two clips in the rollers. Pull the clips and then the studs on the regulator must be separated from the lower channel. Then you should be able to pull the glass up. Some times its a little tricky to get the lower channel to clear the top of the door, but it does.

Hey Bill, No I didn't buy it new I have several old ones that I had straightened and polished. I've heard that the repops available are not too good but haven't used them.

Yes, I've done it several times. Not much fun. IMO you need to pull the track out to be most efficient for readjustment. There is a newer style of "tape" that is used to hold the replacement window in. It is also important to try to restore the or mark the original position of the glass (in the track) and put the new one back in as close as you can by making a template. You'll be surprised out how crooked you can get it in there. Also the same goes for the Stainless trim over the top of the window. You might want to think about replacing the whiskers and such while you've got it apart. I have an enlarged drawing of this window mech if you want me to email it separately to you. It's about a 17.mg file though. Or just enlarge one out of your manual. It will come in handy.

bird, is that a new or repo top glass frame in blue wrap? where did you buy it from, thank you. bill.
