I could use some help with my heater in at "56 Victoria. On the "slide" heat control on the dash if I have it all the way to hot, its cold, if I have it all the way to cold, its hot. Then it almost impossible to regulate the heat....just an 8th inch or less back towards cold and it will be cold. It seem to me something is hooked up backwards but what, I thought I'd ask here before tearing into it and messing things up. I do have a new heater valve for the intake to install...will this do the trick ?? Getting ready for a tour or northern Iowa and souther Minnesota in a couple of weeks and might need the heat. 'The slide control hooks to a vacuum regulator valve inside the heater box. That valve controls the vacuum to the valve on the manifold. I suppose if the vacuum hoses are hooked up wrong it could act this way.

It sure wouldnt hurt to go ahead and install the new heater valve. They have been known to go bad. I had a 56 Ford years ago that the heater valve decided to give up the ghost in the middle of summer. Full heat all the time.

Best reason to change the intake valve, is they have a tendency to leak when they they go bad (you can always close the duct to stop the heat). The grasshopper valve in the heater box has a bi-metal temp control that sends vacuum to the intake valve. If it's original (rubber), then it's likely trashed. Find a NOS part, as I've had bad luck with rebuilt ones.
