Situation:  Found a couple of 312 blocks out of state. Checked by owner who pulled the pan ECZ on caps and both standard bore.  His dad was in the wrecking business and now he has to clean out his semi-trailer.  The blocks he says have been in there for about 20 years. He also pulled the caps and visibly couldn't see any cracks by the threads.

Question: He wants a cashier's check for the blocks because of the amount.  Could I be really sticking my neck out for this or is this normal for people to buy larger parts this way? Any safety measures I can take?

Appreciate your advice.

How much is he asking for them? I wouldn't pay too much without seeing them or getting some sort of guarntee. A bored out 292 with 312 crank is still a better way to go. Chuck

You could have him send you an itemized PayPal invoice, and pay via PP.  I recently had a man/woman not send an item after being paid by PP.  Filed a report after no part and no communication.  PP refunded the money.

It was the first internet fraud experience I've had, out of hundreds of items bought over the net.

Idaho, if you send a pm with your email address, I'll send you a simple example of invoice.  Of course you would want to ignore it, in which case it would expire in something like 3 days, or I can cancel it.

No need to.  I did some checking on paypal and it sounds like a good idea.
