I noticed that the lifters I pulled out of a rebuild B9 292 were made in parts; they're not one piece. Are they hollow?

Are you sure you are looking at the lifters, not the pushrods?  Never seen a lifter that was not one piece, but some pushrods are hollow and 3 pieces.
