Has anyone done this conversion ??? Started doing the rust repairs on my new toy today .Looking under the truck I started thinking / day dreaming ?? .The cost of rebuilding the stock 4 speed ,could go towards a Toploader .Maybe even a 5 speed ??? Is the truck and car bellhousing the same depth ??? Regards Lon

Mummert sells t5 adapters for both cars and trucks. I used one in my Victoria and am very pleased with the conversion. TC

Lon, there are two different truck bellhousings. The three speed trans equiped trucks use a housing with the same bolt pattern and input shaft flange size as the pass cars. The four speed trans has a larger flange area and the bolt patter to match. The top loader should bolt to the three speed housing, but unless you already have a transmission, you could most likely get the T5 and adapter for less than a toploader will cost.
