Doug,

Amen to that! I know what you mean by needing to have the truck to move & do stuff! My was down last year for over 8 months with the rear diff messed up. Yeah, I found out just how manny things can be hauled on the roof of a Corrola if your desperate!

My 63 is an original cruise o (for the moment; t-5 coming soon!) & I belive the kickdown is the same.  I am not familiar enough with the passenger cars to know if the linkage is any different than what you are trying to adapt, but I do know that their were some different linkage combo's that they used on big cab over type trucks that might be a possibility for the firewall issues you have.

I have the 1" 4 hole as well.  I notched out part of the divider on the secondary side though for a pinch more top end.

Hi Red Stake

The engine isn't yet started so I can't say how it runs. The cam is working with 1.43 rockers and has about true measured .420 lift.  Timing @ .050 is: I open 3 BTC  close 35 ABC and X open 43 BBC Close 5 BTC lobe sep 110 advanced 4 degrees.

However one trouble with using the Fordo and Autolite carb in my '56 PU is that the kick down linkage can't be easily adapted to the late model 4bbl manifold, it was missing off my truck anyhow. To get the mechanical KD to work I have adapted a pass car bracket to the manifold.  But that thing sticks too far back so it has to be shortened and raised up a bunch for the linkage to swing.  The long and short of this is that my 1.12 4100 is sitting on a 1" 4 hole spacer.  Normally that makes a carb seem even bigger which wasn't my intent. The spacer is also a handy place to tie in the PCV line. I am in a tearing hurry to get the truck running so that I can use it to move very soon, but fooling around with it is a major hinderance to getting the move underway.
