Overlooking the manufacturer, I put one of those in a floor shift scrub, in place of a PG. Just ground the dedents to allow the trans to find it's gears. Also did a 700R4 in a buddy's 56 scrub, and the column shift worked out the same, even though it was a PNDLR (or some weird thing) for the old cast iron PG. The only problem was the indicator, it didn't work very well when new on the floor shift, and my buddy put an electronic dash unit in that took care of it. Being scrubs, all the parts came from a catalog, and only took as much rework as building from scratch. I have to say I liked the 200, but compared to a PG, why not.

With some simple fabrication, you should be able to keep the column. If all else fails you can make a cable linkage, using the gear shift cables from an outboard motor.
Stick with it the column is the way to go.
