I am going to a Mallory Dist. which has a speedo type end at Dist. tach cable hookup

I'll be doing the same thing... the Unilite was too cheap to pass up! Checked with an online speedo place, and they wanted $60 to make a cable.

I picked up a spare stock tach cable for cheap, and I intend to look for local shop to modify the dist end to fit.

On my 55 the tach cable is covered with a black cover until aprox 6 inch from the distributor and then the cable is bare. The black cover insulates the tack cable from the battery post it passes over. Pete

My early '55 (Nov 54 on the data plate) is like this too.

Thanks that confirms and is correct by what I researched. I am going to a Mallory Dist. which has a speedo type end at Dist. tach cable hookup Both places I found that make them up for this change and the parts catalog people who buy from one of these guy's will only do it in all black jacket. This is do to the I.D. of the Dist end fitting being larger and the metal cable being a smaller O.d. I tried to get them to use an alum or stainless sleeve and then crimp both on to the metal cable, they would not do one that way. Should work but I changed the Dist so way worry about another small change from a stock part.

Looking for description of a Stock 56 Thunderbird Tach drive cable IE. all metal jacket or half the length in metal and half in black jacket or all black jacket. I have seen all three which is correct to the factory car I must change do to change to Mallory dizzy has two threaded ends. My cable now is all metal but that means little.
