I was wondering has anyone done a comparison with HP/Trq with the Blue Thunder intake and the John Mummert intake? 

While I’ve dyno tested the Mummert intake against the Blue Thunder intake on two different engines in both unported and ported configurations, the dyno numbers are not sitting right in front of me.  But what I do remember is that the Mummert intake was slightly better in both cases throughout the rpm band.  There was not enough difference to make you want to replace your existing Blue Thunder intake with a Mummert intake though.

idaho: From tests done here & published in YBM, it seems the Blue Thunder, particularly on smaller displacement engines, is somewhat weaker at lower RPMs. However, which intake is best for you, also depends on your application. The BT has stock appearance & carb base heat, which is helpful in Northern climates or if you need or desire originality. The Mummert does not have either.

I am rebuilding a stock 312 for my 60 ford 4x4. Looking to run a good 4 barrel intake/carb and Sanderson truck headers. Was looking to maximize HP/Trq. For the Mummert intake do you block off the exhaust port on the heads for the crossover or is it blocked at the intake?

The new Mummert intake dose not have the crossover. Solves that problem. Probably no so good if you live and drive a lot in a cold climate. Chuck
