Hello friends,I think you gents are right on, after looking closer the O looks like it could be a D,but it is really close,parts of the letters and the numbers look like they are double stamped! I will call this one a D since this is what I need for my 57 bird! Thanks for your time on this matter it is appreciated!

Pete brings up a good point. The I.D. stamping on the air horn of the carburetor could well be ECZ-AD rather than ECZ-AO. Look carefully with a magnifying glass to be sure what you've got. Again, ECZ-AO is not listed as a Ford passenger car number.



IF, as Pete suggested, your carb. number is ECZ-AD, the carb. is off a '57 passenger car or 'Bird with a FordoMatic transmission and the 312 engine.

I'm looking in the Ford '49-'59 Parts & Accessories Text Catalog... the suffix AO is not listed. The ECZ letters speak to '56 and '57 carburetor units from Holley, Ford (Autolite), and Carter. '56 and some '57 ECZ carb. units had a single letter suffix. Some '57 Ford ECZ carbs. had suffixes of AA (Carter AFB), and AC or AD (Holley 4150 series).



My guess is that your carb. is off of a Mercury, which I do not have the part number listing for. Too, it may be a Ford truck carburetor number...
