Have a rebuilt 57 & up unit that is about 4 yrs old, but has very little mileage on it, but is defective. Never able to get proper dwell readings & won't hold steady. Finally took it to a friend that has a Sun distributor machine. We found that the Pivot pin ( c/w spring) for the advance plate is not secured properly. It moves causing the plate to interfere with the vacuum advance arm. Combined with a top bushing that is a bit loose, it's a mess. It looks like the pin may have been replaced. ??. Although we did not take it all apart. Is the pin normally attached in some way to the outer housing? Just for additional info, the unit came from Autoline, Manitoba Canada. Anybody have a similar situation ? Thanks.

Paul. I’ve moved this post to the Technical section. Just a better fit here than in the ‘This-N-That’ section and possibly get a quicker response.
