I have been looking over the internet over the last month learning more about these engines. I just got home from work and trying to fully ID this engine to see what I have to decide what engine I want to drop into my 52 F1. The engine in question was pulled from a 1954 ford bean truck that had set in a farmers field for years. A friend of mine got it for scrap. Pulled the engine and trans, kept the cab and scrapped the rest. I did some trading with him and got the engine and trans. I was thinking I had one of the big truck engines that are based on the Lincoln Y block. Last night I decided to see exactly what I had.

Pulling the casting numbers off of the block I cam up with. ECZ 6015 B Since this is for the 292/312 engine not what is suppose to be in a Larger 1954 truck I did some more digging. It has the FT engine mounts, 2v holly carb (newer style) the transmission, valve covers and front assessories are painted red like the truck is suppose to be, but the paint that is left on the heads looks more orange and doesn't match the red that is on the other parts. It looks like it was swapped out before, but not sure what parts were matched from the truck. I need to pull the exhaust manifold and heat shields to check the casting numbers on the heads.

Also does any one have a ID list of the intake manifolds. I haven't found one yet.

BLOCK: ECZ 6015 B (1956-57 PASSENGER CAR)

INTAKE: ECG OR EGG 9425 H

What are your opinions on this engine so far as to what I may have cobbled together? I would say it was a passenger car v-8 with just the truck accessories on it, but not sure about what accessories were used on what Y block.

My basic plans for the truck call for just a play around driver. I am deciding between this engine and 250 six and top loader three speed, but will have to relocate the shifter on the top loader or find three on the tree linkage that will work. Decisions decisions.

You guys have a nice clean informative site.
