I am looking for headers for my 57 Fairlane 500, and am not finding much available.  I went to Red's Headers site to check out what they offer.  They have a passenger car set that didn't look too efficient to me, (a guy on a golf cart had a set of these for sale at Columbus) and then I saw that they also offer  "Dual Tube" passenger headers that have longer pipes coming out of the two center ports and into sort of a collector, and then exiting downward.  They seemed reasonably priced,  they also have some nice headers for trucks and fenderwell exit.  I would appreciated hearing from anyone with experience or knowledge of these and other possibilities.

Thanks,

Paul J. - '57 E Code

One site referenced thus far was this one. Haven't personally used their product. http://www.fordpowertrain.com/

I run the truck headers on my pickup, and am quite impressed with both flow and material/workmanship. They aren't anything like the car headers, which I think are quite restrictive on flow. I've seen a picture someone on this site before comparing their car headers to one that someone was manufacturing in home, and red's looked not so wonderful.

I'm sure someone here will be able to better shed some light for you.

I have Red's on my truck.  They are quite nice.  They aren't mandrel bent but it's not a big deal for my application.  They fit well and have 3/8 flanges.  There aren't many choices for 61-64 trucks.

Greg, What year is your truck and when did you get the Ford Powertrain headers?  I called them to see if they offered anything for trucks and they didn't.  Their T-bird headers look real nice.

Do the later trucks have side mounts? I thought trucks were an easy fit for the T-Bird type headers et all? Chuck

Greg:

You are probably remembering Jerry Christenson's ad in Y Block Magazine.  He shows a Red's and his header side by side.  He even marked Red's with chalk showing the center and rear tubes joining the collector at 90 degrees.  The don't look as good as a factory manifold to my eyes.

Charlie, sorry for the confusion, I am running red's and am very happy with them. Had them ceramic(Jet-Hot) coated but the coating needs to be redone, and it's only been three years(not too happy with that part....) The only problem I have with Red's truck headers is that it takes away about 3-5 inches of my ground clearance.

John, Jerry's was the product I was thinking of.

My 61 doesn't have side mounts.  I don't believe side mounts were used on the trucks at all.
