 hi folks need a bit of help please what is the lever with the horizontal screw for? also there is a threaded port to one side and below the fuel inlet that leads to a pin sized hole just below one of the primary throttle blades is this the vacuum signal for the distributor? would that be ported or otherwise? many thanks for any help stuey England

The lever is for the trans kickdown rod and yes the threaded port sounds like the vac advance port.

Vacuum advance port BELOW throttle plate is full time non-ported vacuum.There is a lot of discussion about ported vs non-ported vacuum supply for vacuum advance.During the 60's many of Fords engines used full time non ported vacuum like this carb has.Is there an ID tag on that Stuey?

hello and thanks for the help there is no id tag its a 1.12 c5af-h i think it comes from a later car but it is what was fitted when i got the truck i must admit i was a bit disapointed when Teds carb test showed the 1.08 performed better. as the best performer was a 750 holley i would have thought the 1.12 would have done better...but i'll stick with what i've got. does any one know the correct fitting for the vacuum port and where they can be obtained? a 3/16 flare nut fits but theres no 45* seat in there stuey

C5AF is off a 65 fullsize Ford.If you want to hook up vacuum yu can use rubber hoes with a fitting screwed into the vacuum port.

Stuey, after you have the engine and carb running for a while, let us knnow how the 4100 worked out. Your 4V came on a 390 cu in. engine.

Stu, See if maybe it's a plain old tapered pipe, although it ought to be a tubing (with a flaired seat.)

hi Frank it takes a 3/16 tube nut (3/8-24) but it does not have a tapered seat. the nut stops and the 3/16 tube carries on for about another 1/8". i've been staring down the hole (the peepers are getting a bit dim these days) and i think the tube needs an "olive" if there is such a thing for 3/16 tube there is such a thing! in fact there are two sorts "parallel and barrel" about £9 per 100. Mike i'd gladly let you know but don't hold your breath. this project has been running for 6 years to date. i do a bit when funds permit. champagne tastes on beer money springs to mind. the fact that i've got this far is the result of the help and enthusiasm i've received from everyone on this site.i nearly dumped that weired looking motor with the across the front exhaust but after reading some articles by one Jerry"Yestertech" Christenson i got curious. he certainly recomends the 4100 and i still look forward to reading his peppery articles in the "Y-Block"mag stuey
