According to Dana, rear axle pinion shaft centerline needs to be parallel with the crankshaft centerline....... so if the engine/trans angles back 3 dedegrees, the rear axle pinion shaft needs to be angled (up) the same 3 degrees...

Thanx guys, got the mock-up done, the tail housing and pinion angle total 180 degrees so its phazed in nice. Just kinda wondering what a y could run at for angle and oiling issues. Gary

You really don't want the engine level if the intake manifold is angled 3 degrees....
And my 4 BBL manifold is angled about 3 derees or so (down in the front) ......
According to Dana, rear axle pinion shaft centerline needs to be parallel with the crankshaft centerline....... so if the engine/trans angles back 3 dedegrees, the rear axle pinion shaft needs to be angled (up) the same 3 degrees...

I think I would be more concerned with the drive shaft angle and alignment than the engine being level. Just my 1¢ worth.

Howdy, Pretty much all of the manifolds give you a level carbureter if you angle the engine approx 3 degrees. I did the same with my 292 when I made up the side mounts. The front mount is coming off......  Regards, Rick

How close to level does the yblock have to be, doing some mock-up for a toploader tranny mount on my 55 Vicky. Thanx, Gary
