Hello all

Ok, so I have slowly been going insane (more than normal). Can't get horn to work on the Bird. Have new horn wire harness, one that goes down through the steering shaft. Horns work, can ground out the horn wire in the column and they work. Put the steering wheel on with horn ring and all that but horn does not work with horn ring. Not sure if I am missing pieces in the horn ring itself on the steering wheel. Wondering if either am missing pieces or just need to replace ALL the horn ring parts. Either way, hope someone can assist before I end up in the looney bin w00t

Just a thought... do you have the spring at the top that goes on the wire? If the spring is missing the wire will not be held high enough to hit the horn ring t complete the circuit. Spring is about the size as one that would be in a pen.

Have you checked the horn relay?

Horn relay good BigGrin. I believe the spring is missing. Guessing it goes under the "hat" before the wire is laced through the steering shaft?? Pics would be good if possible w00t

Thanks!!

MAC's list the wire with spring and insulator included. Guess your new wire didn't include them? Sorry, I don't have a picture. There is one in the manual but it is small and not very clear. The manual calls it a "Horn Wire Assembly".

Okey doke, the horn wire I purchased new was from Larry's. Part number was a T_14308 which is what Mac's shows as well. So I am going to assume it came with the spring. In looking at the wire installed in the car, I can see insulation right up through the "hat" and to the bottom of the brass button. Wondering if that is causing the spring to act up.

That is the piece I purchased from Larry's. This picture if from Mac's site which is the same part. Thoughts?
