My '56 Fairlane has a stock 292. The problem is; the car starts, but quits as soon as I release the ignition key. If I hold the key over to start, the motor runs, but quits as soon as I release the key. Any ideas, guys?

The relay may be bad. It's happened to me before.

Burned up ballast resistor. Jumper it temporarily and see if that "fixes it".

Run a temporary jumper wire from + battery to + on the coil.
