Would anyone have a illustrated view, or photo of underbody of the 1954 Mercury/Ford that would show the locations of the original splash pans?  I know there is one under-neath the radiator, but I have a couple other pans I can`t find locations for.  Any info: would be appreaciated.   Thanks,   54mercury312

These things? I was debating just removing them and the steady rest when I install my new 292. They're held in by the little clips that hold fuel lines on later Fords. They are different shape, the the drivers side having a cut out for the fuel pump possibly.

The clips hold the generator to voltage reg wiring harness.

I know you can't save them all, but I'm tryin anyway!

These were installed to keep water mud and snow off the generator as its mounted low. Many of them were removed the first time there was a reason to do so and never re-installed.Most people dont bother especially if its a fair weather only driver. They actually are held on the frame with screws or self tapping bolts. The centre clip holds them together in the middle.Same for the steady rest. They weren't used after 56 as unnecessary expense when building the car. Most people take them off and leave them off.

Thanks for the replies.  The photos I am attaching are the ones in question, where are they located on the 1954?

Here is the other splash pan in question.  Its been a long time. and as you say oldcarmark, they  have been taken off and discarded.   I am preparing my inner fenders for paint, and was curious as to where these two pans fit.

I`m not sure,as I have had these a long time, (memory not as good as it used to be)   There is a better possability that these were off a Merc O matic than a manual shift.  It seems to me that I have seen literature over the years showing these pans on a chassis view.  I have gone thru a lot of manuals an stuff I have, and was only able to find the front pan underneath the radiator, to cover the generator.  One thing I see (from the photo of front pan sent by 54customline4dr) is that the pan on the 54 Ford is a two piece, held together in the ceter with clips, where as the one I have for the 54 Merc (not shown) is a one piece pan.  Thanks for reply, 54Merc312
