I thought of that but did not want weaken the cross bar.

The actual trans mount was the same on my '56 but I had to section 1/4" out of each side of the cross member to move it hack so the stock mount would work...

I had to fab up a transmission mount for my 312 T85 w/OD installation. Basic stuff, just ground down the stock support and welded in 1" bar stock then re-drilled the slots. This allows the stock cross brace to be utilized. Hopes this helps someone.
