Your distributor has two ways to advance spark timing. A set of weights that cause the spark to advance (occure earlier) this is strictly a function of engine speed or RPM and a vacuum advance that depemds on engine load. More load on the engine gives less or no vacuum advance.

The reason for vacuum advance is to give better gas milage.

You can use either pure manifold vacuum or carb ( ported )  vacuum to send an engine load signal to your distributor. They both work and for your purposes both will be about the same result. Pete

K does a spark arrest ring a bell I think I am missing that which Is the port vacuum fitting also does any one Agree?

Hey guys I need some help? Want to put on a carb I got from a buddy on my 57 f100 with272. But the carb lacks a vacuum it just has internally threaded hole that doesn't actually go to inside of carb it blocked can I connect the dizzy to full vac off the manifold or what

Carb is 2300 list 2015 off 60 merc 312 with 260 cfm any info appreciated
