I met them at races a couple of years, both the Alix brothers were characters.  They will be missed.

sad to hear that sam has passed from us. first met him at columbus when he approached me to ask if I was the one who had left that bible tract in the men's restroom. when I told him yes, he beamed a big smile and asked if I had any more. stopped me again leaving the dragway and wanted some more, and then ended up selling him and ralph the old bob and jane johnson 57. because of his faith in Christ, know i will see him again.....may GOD's peace which passes all understanding be with all the Alix family

I met him a couple of years ago at Columbus. I was sad to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I was fortunate enough to see Sam both at Tulsa in June and at Columbus at the Y Shootout.  Against his Doctor’s orders, he made the trip to Columbus but he needed that.  And the way he was perked up at Columbus had to have delayed the inevitable.  Rest in peace Sam.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him!, Glad to have met at past Columbus events.

You elders have to hang in there, The worste thing you can do is let an old car or an old man sit, then they will go to pieces on you. God Bless!

I hope some of you younger guys realize the older fellows on this site won't be around a whole lot longer. Ask your questions soon or you won't get the chance. We're losing one or two guys every year, and the ones left have mostly had some form of a medical issue already.

Sam was always good to me. Of course I met him thru his brother Ralph after many years. He has that beautiful yellow 57 that he loved.

He was always encouraging me with my car and real positive. He gave me a hand on mechanics more than a few times.

I still can't get over that a few years ago I made a casual phone call to Ralph about the black 57 that was for sale. It seems like it only took a few minutes for Sam and Ralph to decide they needed to go get it. Done. I often think, what if I hadn't told Ralph about it? Smile
