I was looking at purchasing the Holley 1850 C 600 cfm but the linkage connecting the accelerator rod is different than the stock Holley carb and when I looked at the 1848 465 cfm linkage appears more stock. Has any one modified the linkage and has it worked for others? I wanted to get the 1850 but if I don't want to run into a problem hooking it up. Application would be for a 1960 ford truck with a 312. Appreciate any input.

In a Dyno test of several carbs done by our moderator Ted, at his shop some time back, (and published) the 465 cfm scored very well. On a 322 cu. in. moderate Y-Block, it finished near the top against several larger carbs. Unless your truck engine is extensively modified, I'd go with it... My general impression is that, far to many enthusiasts are over influenced by info from Hot Rod magazine and other similar sources that constantly strive for sensationalist horsepower figures, resulting in many people over carbureting their engines..

Yeah, I read that Y-block article and the 1850 scored higher than the 1848 so that was why I was leaning towards 1850. I will probably go with the 1848 for ease of linkage. Thanks for the input.
