This is my first post here on the Y Block forum, but I have been a member of other forums for a while. Don't hold it against me, but I am more of a GM guy. This is my first Ford to restore and it is special because it was my Son in Law's Great Grandfather's last pickup. He has the original title signed by his Grandfather in 1961.

I have a 1961 F100 that has a 292 and granny 4 speed that I am going to be putting in a 1961 F100 Unibody. I want to use the engine and convert to an AOD transmission. I see that there are transmission adapters out there, but I have this question. The original engine uses a front horseshoe mount and two "side" mounts on the bellhousing. When I install the AOD, I will not have any "side mounts" for support. Classic Performance Parts has an engine crossmember listed for use with a 352 engine, part #CP35228, and it uses the same mounts as a 292. Will the 292 bolt in place on the crossmember that was designed for a 352?

Thanks, Charles

Charles, the Y block used the same mounts as the early FE's, should work fine.

I installed a E40D trans into my 62 F100 and just built mounts from the adapter plate to the original mount locations.  It was not difficult and worked very well.
