i scraped a 58 edsel 410 last week and got a few surprises.the engine mounts up front and there are no mounts on the crossmember for any other ford engine.when i got the motor out and looked it over their are no mount bosses on the side of this engine.made for 58 edsel only.the other cheaper ford edsel is the same as a 58 ford.no surprises their.

Would that have been a MEL 410? If I recall Ford also sold a F.E. 410 one year? And i't's gone?

The 410 Edsel engine was a one year only offering being 1958 and is a M-E-L based engine. The 410 Edsel MEL engine uses a 430 crankshaft but with a slightly smaller bore size. The FE 410 was a two year offering in the Mercury lineup; 1966 & 1967. The FE 410 engine was essentially a 390 block using a 428 crankshaft.
