1956 Ford with Fordomatic transmission. Do you have to drain the transmission to replace the transmission cooling lines?

I know that it isn't a Fordo, but I didn't have to when I replaced the lines in a C-4. Look at the location where the lines go in the trans - if they are quite high up on the trans you should get very little leakage. You will get some because of the fluid in the lines themselves.

If fluid does leak from the fittings after removal, just put a pan underneath it and it will only drain down what is necessary.
