Thanks for the feedback. I agree the most likely stock location was level with the frame, not sloping away from the frame. Its also highly unlikely one side would be different than the other. The funny thing is replacement adjustable cab mounts are available, but the only front cab mounts I can find are not adjustable.  I am going to try that and hope its correct. I tend to think I could come up with a 1/4" laser cut fabrication that would allow some future adjustment to fine tune the front end sheet metal alignment. Thanks again for the feedback.

I seem to remember something about F100 cab mounts and Charlie McCraney. I think he made some search the forum for them. Chuck

Outlaw, when I rebuilt my '56 Merc M100 (virtually identical to the '56 Ford) I was much younger, did not have the internet and did not pay close attention to such details. I should have. I had a fair amount of front end alignment issues. I ended up doing some shimming. Also I had to replace all of the floor so placement of the front cab mounts was a bit of an issue as well. All reference points were lost. My guess is that the are probably supposed to be level but more importantly the same on both sides. To solve some of the alignment problems I ended up using after market adjustable rear cab mounts (Champion Auto Parts in Orange County). Also I found that the running board supports had sagged considerably and I had to shim the running boards quite a bit to fit the fenders. Good luck, somebody else here will probably be of more help.

I have unsuccessfully searced for a web forum where anyone can offer advise on the stock front cab mounts. After years of sitting, I have been told its common to have these "wings" sag and cause alignment problems with front end sheet metal. I currently have the 292 in the rebuilding stage and am preparing the cab for reinstallation on the frame. My inquiry is about the original alignment of the front cab mounts. When I place a level on the frame from side to side over the top surface of the cab mount wings, the driver side drops about 1/4" and the passenger side drops about 3/8" inch. I am thinking when these trucks were built, the outward ends of the front cab wings are level with the frame and I should make sure they are level before I reinstall the cab. I don't want to take this on if the original cab mounts were not mounted level with the frame. Does anyone have any experience in this department?
