When I was in Thailand the local police chief had a 60 Pontiac hardtop. Pretty neat car in good condition. Probably a GI import. Anyway after several rides in the car one day he had the hood up. They had transplanted a Nissan engine and trans into the old pontiac. He found the car with a blown up engine so they went with what was available. All you guys that have been in the fareast know they still have craftsmen in little corner garages (read huts) that can do magic. I've seen fenders at least 3 steps beyond usuable pounded out and made almost like new by these dudes. Chuck

Strange you should mention that. I ran across this recently and it IS in HotRod. http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicles/113_0704_1957_chevrolet_bel_air/viewall.html or this one: http://www.corvetteonline.com/news/a-1978-corvette-with-a-ford-modular-v8/ I've told the story here before of the early 50's vette drag car at New England Dragway in the 70's that was tunning a 427 cammer. Had a BIG Ford oval sticker on the trunk. Chuck Man you gotta love Google a little searching found this! Now you belive me! And just incase you wondered where the Ford/vettes came from:

Had a friend who way back in the day, late '60's, drag raced a '55 Chevy with a loaded 289 Ford in it. Drove the Chevy guys nuts!
