Does anyone know what the intake valve closing ABDC degree is for the Y-265S cam that John Mummert sells?

Hi Larry,
On John's web site, there is a listing of topics on the HOME Page under the heading, 'INFORMATION CENTER'. If you toggle the topic, 'Installation Instructions', the first subtopic is 'Cam Cards'. I've pasted the specs for the Y-265-S below.

At this point I don't know, I don't have the pistons to check it out. I will have .000 deck clearance after the mill takes a skim cut, and my ECL-B heads have never been milled. but I plan on milling .010" off for flatness. I plan on using the 1.840" intake and 1.600" exhaust stainless valves. Does anyone have experience using the Y-265S cam with John Mummert's forged pop-up pistons, if so did you have a problem with valve clearance.

No problems have been found with up to .500" valve lift and flat top pistons. The domed pistons also have valve reliefs so there will be no problem.The forged pistons are generally .015" in the hole on most blocks but you need to mock it up to be certain. We checked a crank ground by a local crank grinder a while back and found nearly .010" difference in stroke on the various rod journals. When rods are resized they get shorter and the amount can vary. The deck height of the block will vary from end to end and side to side even on our favorite engines.

charliemccraney Yes, you are right I don't know about my deck clearance. According to the information John left I won't know that until my crank is reground and my rods are reconditioned. I assumed that they would stay the same. I sure hope I don't learn too many things the hard way on this rebuild. Larry
