Based on what I have seen on ebay (when looking for a gear) the clip on gears went into the Tremec's, TKO's and other transmissions up until at least 1998. Based on this, I assume they will fit AOD's.

I think the speedo cables newer then the 70s are of a clip on at the speedo head,I used a 65 galaxie cable on my 55 that has a C-4 and screws on the speedo.

As anyone on this site that knows me can attest I have a lousy memory. But, when I did the AOD conversion I was replacing the later 57-up transmission so I already had the "modern" style cable. If my memory is correct the cable worked with no modifications. Chuck

Without knowing for sure what the trans end of the aod cable looks like, but if it is the same as every trans since 57 to up into the 90's, probably a mustang. They come in different lengths. You could have a custom cable made up if you can't find anything. Look for a speedometer shop in your area.

Just about got this aod swap done/ 2 things left to do one fine a speedometer cable that will mate up 1988 aod to 55 speed head and new throttle sys/I don't like the lokar/ I may go to the junk yard for throttle sys parts/ does any one know what speedometer cable will work?
