a guy on fordbarn answered it.they took it of the teapot at the front somehow.this engine now has a 55 carb so whatever was their is gone.anyway its simple to take the intake of and drill it out.i was just wondering how they did it.go over and read the post ted and you may understand it better than i did.

You might check the back of the Teapot carb for a vacuum port at the base. While the ’56 carbs generally all have that port, there’s always the chance the carb is not the original and the base of the carb is undrilled for a vacuum port. If that’s the case, then a spacer under the carb with a vacuum outlet would be one solution to getting said port.

The 56 intake had no provision for vacuum, unlike the 55 (front of carb) and 57 (rear of manifold).

Kenny: you are partly correct, but the fuel pump upper diaphram is a "booster" it has to have a primary vacuum source..

Hmmm.... '56 intake manifold is not available to look at presently.

There is a large brass fitting that screws into the mounting base of the teapot in the rear directly under the fuel inlet. The brass piece measures ~1 inch by ~1 1/4 by ~9/16 thick.

I believe that this is the source of manifold vacuum for the wipers on the '56... I've seen carburetors with this brass fitting removed and a pipe plug installed.

They used a combination fuel/vacuum pump. You can look one up on rock auto. They have a picture of it.

a friend has a 56 with the teapot intake with no vacuum hookup.it was never drilled out .how did they run the wipers.never saw this before.
