When I took my 292 apart a couple of weeks ago I could see that the rockers all had oil, but I was astounded by the amount of stuff that was in the oil passages. I would have thought that no oil could have been able to make it to the rockers. I ran a spare coke cable casing through each passage and thought that would be good. Just in case I hand twisted one of those long drill bits through and little mountains of crap dropped down into the cam bearings. One of the cam bearings was cocked a little as I could only get a small wire through. Made me think that maybe you could carefully drill out the bearing. Charlie you read my mind. I would think that if you hand twisted a drill bit into the oil passage under the rocker pedestal and it came out impacted then its a sign that the passage could be plugged all the way down to the cam. I would be careful with air. You don't want to push that stuff to a place where you can't get it out. Good luck.

You can try air pressure but a compressor won't come near to the pressure a grease gun can apply.

If the bearing turned, you can try to carefully drill the bearing, with the heads removed but probably the best way is to take the engine apart and replace the bearing and if you go that far, you may as well address anything else that needs attention. If you're getting oil on the other side, I think the bearing is ok.

Ok got gaskets put on pan and pump turned the oil pump manualy and still no oil to right head hole left side flos good i believe nothing to compare it to.
As far as right goes is air pressure a possible way to remove blockage or is the grease fitting method the only way to go also i read about cam bearings turning what r the odds of that happening? And whats that fix?

I'd remove the distributor and use a drill on the oil pump shaft rather than cranking the engine over for a long period of time.

What you are experiencing is not uncommon. The passages can become blocked. One method is to make a plate to replace the rocker stand with a grease fitting and see if you can use a grease gun to pop the blockage loose. If that doesn't work, you can pull the heads which will give you access to the passage in the block and you can see if you can clear it out with a coat hanger or carefully with a drill bit.
Or, a really easy solution is to oil them manually once or twice a week until you can rebuild it. I did this for several years on mine and it got me around just fine.

I'm no expert but I think its time to take a few things apart and check it out. On a couple of those push rods the wrong length bolts in the intake manifold (I don't remember exactly which ones) can contact them and if they do it isn't good. If the motor has been sitting for two years all kinds of things can crawl into the heads (through the exhaust manifold for example). I recently pulled the exhaust manifold off a 272 that I had sitting around and there were about 50 sunflower seeds stuffed into one of the exhaust ports.

Remove the spark plugs if you haven't already and it will spin easier. Then spin it longer, at least a minute to see if you get oil.

K so you don't know your left from your right. Maybe you should check, i don't know, the firing order. While your at it set your valve lash. You can also leave your valve covers off while running the engine to see if your getting oil to the rockers.

Also, buy a repair manual.
