The motor in the background drives a thin rubber belt which contacts the center main bearing. The crank is spinning at 600 rpm's and the left dial shows the imbalance.

In the video there is grinding noise coming from the other side of the shop, where they are resurfacing something.

My experience (which is limited) when you see bob-weights attached to the rod throws it's a balencing process. There was no large grinding wheel is sight so I believe no resizing was taking place.

Not sure about what looked like a polisher in the first photo. Like I said limited knowledge........JD

Was the operation in the video turning down the main bearing size? It didn't look like it was balancing anything. Would balancing be a different operation, or (quite likely!) do I just not understand what I was seeing?

Looks like a 312 to me also John, you don't think Dennis would be trying too slip one in the 54 and keep it looking like a 239.
