Hey Moonshadow, can you dig this? Your advice saved a boat load of potential grief. No tools were used to disassemble the parts. A good reason not to powder coat a damper.

I find it difficult to understand how someone could think they could heat an item that is bonded by rubber to over 400 degrees and not risk catastrophic failure. These old dampers are bad enough just by being old and oil soaked. In fact I had a "good" so called NOS damper come apart when Ted had my engine on the dyno. And that was only spray painted. Chuck

Well after the first one pulled apart by hand I am really leery about the other 57 year old one I have. I think one will be going to the re-builder.

I had one seperate during a dyno pull. Sent in down to the Damper Doctor and they fixed it up and got it back to the shop in about 2 days! GREAT service. I think the shop told them the engine was on the dyno and that they needed it ASAP.

Thanks Rono. There is a fellow in Salem Oregon (I think) that rebuilds dampers as well.

Just wanted to mention again that the Damper Doctor will powder coat the damper if you want. He does it prior to final assemble. I found him to be really good to deal with. Chuck
