John, Thanks for reply. I have been restoring my father's original phase 1 custom for a couple of years. The drivetrain is essentially complete but the bodyman is at least 18 months behind due to other projects. Here is a picture of engine when I had it together to install all of the plumbing. You can see the balancer and supercharger drive sheaves in this.

Randy: There were two different size pulleys used. Stick shift cars had 1:1.7 ratio, automatics had 1:2 ratio. That made the pulleys 6 1/4" diameter for sticks, 7 1/4" for automatics. The automatic pulley had a 6 1/4 inner sheave to drive the water pump and generator and a 7 1/4 outer to drive the supercharger with a single belt. The stick setup used 2 6 1/4 sheaves and used dual belts to drive the blower. The damper itself was the same as regular '57s, the blower drive pulleys were bolt-on additions, as is the power steering drive pulley. The T-Bird damper setup was completely different. If you have a phase 1 setup, you have a real jewel!

In a reply to another post asking about adding a VR supercharger, Hoosier Hurricane wrote that one of the parts that is different is the harmonic balancer. I did look it up in the Ford parts book and it does have a separate listing for the S/C engine described as Single Sheave 7-1/4" diam. damper-5 timing marks-4.84 long, Part# B7AZ- 312-B. I didn't find the original dampener from my father's Phase I engine and I didn't know there was a difference so I am using a single sheave #FOR2921 from Dampener Doctor. Anyone know why the supercharger balancer is different and will the one from dampener doctor work, the supercharger drive sheave looks to fit correctly.
