Tulio,
I looked at some of my old tubular pushrods and they show the same pattern with the finish in the cups. I used those pushrods for more than 10000 miles and did not have a problem with stock rocker arms. Make sure the adjuster screw ball fits the cup properly, and I think you will be fine.

Tulio: If you do a search here on adjusters & pushrods, there's a posting from John Mummert a few days ago, re adjuster-pushrod fits. Might be helpful..

Mine seem to be ok on the adjusting among parts, as it fits really nice on the adjusters.
My concern is if the machining markings on the cup won't harm the adjuster's ball.
The pushrods are marked Schumann 250#, and I don't know if it's really truth they were manufactured by the tech author of "How to rebuild a Y Block Ford" like it was told at the e-Bay ad, since I don't have that book to see if this Shumann was on it.
The efective length is the correct one for my engine, they seem to be very resistant, and the last thing I wanted was to polish 16 pushrods without the need for it.
I never installed this kind of part on a Y-Block, only on a 302, and this one nas a ball on both ends. I really have no experience to say if my tubular pushrods have the correct finish on the cups or not, maybe I'm being too carefull, I don't know. That's what I really wnat to know.

Mine are not too narrow, they are just a hair bigger than the ball on the adjusting screw, like the originals are.
I saw that yours has the same machining marks as mine, maybe they are from the same source??
Acording to the seller, mine were manufactured by Mr. Eickman, the one that wrote a book on rebuilding Y-Blocks.

I didn't think about that. maybe I can do a polising on the pushrods to make them more smooth, but is that necessary?

Lovefordgalaxie:

You need tubular pushrods with double valve springs, RPM is not the factor here, valve spring pressure is. How about getting an extra adjusting screw and some lapping compound and lapping the pushrod seats until you like the finish?

Charlie,

No I didn't have tubular pushrods installed in the engine, when I did the rebuild, I ended not installing them because I was not very impressed with the machining job on the cups that go on the rocker adjusting screws as they are not as smooth as the factory pushrods there, so I ended not installing them as I' was afraid they could damage the adjusting screws. The lenght is correct tough.
My usual RPM range when I'm on highway is from 2500 to 3500 RPMs, with a eventual 4000 RPM pull. I'm carefull to not go over the 5000 RPM mark.
The last time I did a valve lash adjustment, I found a slightlly bent pushrod, and replaced it. It was still working, but by turning it with your fingers you could notice it was not 100% straight. There are no stuck valves, so I figure the double springs are being hard on the pushrods.
My concern about the set of pushrods I have, like I said, is that the "cups" are not smooth, you can notice the circular markings left by the machining job on them. I just don't want to risk fixing one thing and damaging the other.
