Hi guys!!

I would like to hear your opinions on a set of tubular pushrods I found on e-pay:

Tubular Pushrods

My 292 has a Isky E-4 cam, plus double valve springs, and I'm afraid of bending a stock pushrod at higher sustained RPMs when I'm on the highway.
I already have the same set the guy is selling.

My question is: Does anyone has experience with those Pushrods??

Thanks in advance!!

As long as the length is right, they should work.

But first, do you know that yours is not equipped with tubular pushrods? What kind of RPM do you plan to turn on the highway? Here in the states, your average car wouldn't be much above 3500rpm, without overdrive, at normal highway speeds.

Charlie,

No I didn't have tubular pushrods installed in the engine, when I did the rebuild, I ended not installing them because I was not very impressed with the machining job on the cups that go on the rocker adjusting screws as they are not as smooth as the factory pushrods there, so I ended not installing them as I' was afraid they could damage the adjusting screws. The lenght is correct tough.
My usual RPM range when I'm on highway is from 2500 to 3500 RPMs, with a eventual 4000 RPM pull. I'm carefull to not go over the 5000 RPM mark.
The last time I did a valve lash adjustment, I found a slightlly bent pushrod, and replaced it. It was still working, but by turning it with your fingers you could notice it was not 100% straight. There are no stuck valves, so I figure the double springs are being hard on the pushrods.
My concern about the set of pushrods I have, like I said, is that the "cups" are not smooth, you can notice the circular markings left by the machining job on them. I just don't want to risk fixing one thing and damaging the other.

Lovefordgalaxie:

You need tubular pushrods with double valve springs, RPM is not the factor here, valve spring pressure is. How about getting an extra adjusting screw and some lapping compound and lapping the pushrod seats until you like the finish?

I didn't think about that. maybe I can do a polising on the pushrods to make them more smooth, but is that necessary?

This is what happens with push rods with too narrow cup!http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/Uploads/Images/42ade1cb-d01a-4e03-871a-eae8.JPG

Mine are not too narrow, they are just a hair bigger than the ball on the adjusting screw, like the originals are.
I saw that yours has the same machining marks as mine, maybe they are from the same source??
Acording to the seller, mine were manufactured by Mr. Eickman, the one that wrote a book on rebuilding Y-Blocks.

Tulio: If you do a search here on adjusters & pushrods, there's a posting from John Mummert a few days ago, re adjuster-pushrod fits. Might be helpful..
