About your carbs the 97 are like made out of gold. The Ford 8BA are still reasonably priced. Since you are not going to race the preformance difference is not an issue. GO with the Ford carbs unless you just won the super lotto. Pete

On my 312 I am running three twos (in a 54 Ford with 4 speed). I have 8BA's on the ends, ECG-5 in the middle. Are these the best? - I don't really know but these carbs are probably better than the 97's because they are a more modern carb. They were somewhat of a problem getting squared away, but now they seem to run very good.

Great site! Rebuilding my 312 (.030 over) with G heads and Edelbrock 3x2 intake and Isky E-4 SOLID cam. I am currently researching carbs. Does anybody have any experience on which carbs are the most reliable and best suited for a 3x2 setup - Holley 94 or ECG or Stromberg 97 or other type? Thanks in advance, Bruce
