Since you were asking about removing an engine in another thread, I respectfully assume that you cannot pull off an engine swap on your own and will need to pay someone. That will be very expensive.
In trucks, a 302 is a big step backwards, unless you get an 80s roller cammed, fuel injected 5.0. You get a decrease in mileage and power. I can't imagine that it is much different with a car. You can put the money you were going to use for the engine swap toward a transmission adapter and any number of newer transmissions that are not as sluggish - and this will probably save you money over a completely different engine and trans swap. Don't ask me which one, though. Maybe the c4?? I'm a manual transmission guy until my knee or arm quits working and hopefully that will be quite some time.
