I am wondering if anyone has played with modding a 2 barrel intake? Ie. rounding off the corners to front and back where holes go into runners help air turn the corner OR running an open carb spacer so each bore is connected below carb? I am looking for street power torque and throttle response. Also for 292 built for torque - 350 or 500 cfm holley?

I did cut whole top of and replaced with about 2" nylon plate with four holes. It worked fine.I also grinded those casting things off from all runners and rounded corners a little bit with sandpaper. I think my biggest improvement was opening those 2 plenum holes, because those are positioned so low.

Here’s a picture of a modified two barrel manifold that was used in a circle track application where the use of two barrel carbs was mandated. The slot in the manifold has been removed which will ultimately hurt lowend torque numbers but this manifold was the points champion in its class the last year it ran. This particular engine used a 500 cfm 2 barrel Holley with an overbored 312 sporting domed pistons and heavily angle milled “G” heads. For higher lowend torque numbers, the smaller and properly tuned 2V carb will edge out the larger carb but HP numbers will be better with the larger carb.
