THANK YOU EVERYONE....I've got it figured out with your help....with todays gas I think changing the element (filter) a little more often is probably a good idea.

I change mine every year - however I previously had issues with tiny rust particles affecting the carb, so I think there may be some issues with the fuel tank I'm not ready to address at this time.

I wanted a "stock look" for my Victoria and went with an AC glass bowl type in the same spot as Greenbirds T-bird. I used stock type fuel line bought from a parts house on both sibes. Harbor Freight for the bender along with the double flare tool. I liked how the line left the pump verticle and was out in the fan path for some cooling and above the intake leaving the filter going to the carb; looks clean too. I made a bracket off the intake to steady it. Personally I don't like rubber lines or fuel filters I can't see in.

Sounds a little goofy to some but the only place for a plastic fuel filter is in the breather line of the fuel tank. Keeps contamintes from getting to the tank. A must on dirt track cars that has come over to my stockers.........Good Luck

This is a set-up I built to replace the glass bowl "rock" type AC filter on my bird........... there is a separate replaceable element inside the canister. Flows more fuel than a typical street engine could ever need.



It uses the standard T-bird bracket (strap under a manifold bolt with a clip) and an AC GF-62 filter housing with the same two adapter fittings used on the glass type housing (1/4 pipe to 5/16 tube). It is a full "hardline" arrangement - and won't work with some air cleaners. I modify the housing to incorporate a pressure gauge



Several suppliers offer either decals or fully detailed canisters marked for "FOMOCO" or Motorcraft if you want it to look like it belongs on there. I've seen red, white and gold (Mustang part).

As mentioned before - the same canister unit can be found mounted right on the bottom of a Ford "FE" type fuel pump and be accessed under the vehicle - if clearance exists. Those pumps were used on the 360 engines and maybe the 390.

The original factory equipment AC brand fuel pump on the 292 Y-Block had a built-in fuel filter in a glass bowl at the bottom of the pump. Therefore, an in line fuel filter was not necessary when using the original type fuel pump. Alan S. Freeman

I added mine right before the carburetor. Make sure you get a metal bodied one, not a plastic one due to the heat build up. Make sure connections don't leak. You don't want gasoline spraying on top of your hot engine!

Mine is in the line running along the the frame, approximately under the door. I also have a small stone type filter between the FP and the carb. Doesn't hurt to have both.

Where should the fuel filter (other than the screen in the carb) be. I think someone has added a filter under the drivers door on the frame which would put it between the fuel pump and the tank. 292/312 thats stock. I'm told it should be located between the carb and fuel pump. which is correct ?? Or should I go with both ??
