I haven't installed the steering column and steering box yet so that's what confused me. If anyone that has a '54 Ford or Mercury with manual transmission can confirm that the bracket mounts on the steering box please let me know. Thanks, Alan

If it's the same as 55/56 Ford,it mounts on one of the steering box bolts.

On a '54 Mercury with a 3 speed O.D. transmission, there is a clutch return spring down by the bell housing. One end of the spring attaches to a small hole in the outer end of the clutch fork. The other end attaches to an "L" shaped steel bracket which mounts somewhere on the engine or frame. Can someone tell me where the bracket mounts? Thanks, Alan S. Freeman
